Postby eolh on Wed Jul 14, 2010 5:57 pm

Hi all! The purpose of this post is to promote and provide information about ANURPS Games Day!

When: Saturday 24th July
Where: Copland Building at ANU. Ooh, a map!

Image

Note that the black line shows you where to go (from Barry Drive) to park if you need to drive in. The red circle is the part of Copland where our rooms are. We meet up just outside of Copland (Building 24), room 30. Room 30 is labelled very clearly COPG030.

Room: Cop G030 , 31, 39 Booked!!

Please be there before 9am so we can organise games!

Which games will be offered?
Depends entirely upon the kindness of GMs!

If you can run a game, please post in this thread.
As more games are confirmed, this post will be updated.

Games Schedule:

9:00 am

July 24 there will be a games day at the ANU, featuring Pathfinder Society and other games (tbd).
Signup is at http://warhorn.net/canberragames/ where full geographic details of the location of the ANU can be found (except it doesn't say planet Earth, so I'll add that here for the benefit of any aliens who may be reading this).

If you're playing Pathfinder, there is a cost of $1 for the day. This is to assist in covering the cost of the adventures.
If you sign up for non Pathfinder games, there is no cost.
If you're running a non-Pathfinder game, please email the details to wes<at>netspeed.com.au so they can be added to the warhorn page

Hope to see lots of you there

I'm wondering if we might need to rethink ANURPS games days? They seem to be flatlining a little of late.

How could we build up and sustain interest? Perhaps themed games days, like the play like a pirate day, might be one way?

Would something less frequent attract more GMs and more players? Perhaps the longer lead time that comes with less frequent events might build anticipation and provide more time for GMs to come up with something to offer.

How can we entice more GMs to run games? How do we attract more players? Do we need a website for the games day specifically? How could we need market it more widely?

Maybe this is overkill but I think the games days are great opportunity for our roleplaying community to create a space to play and share the games we're interested in. But maybe we don't need to do this <shrugs>.

Speaking for me: I am not unhappy with the concept - I am just finding I am doing a whole lot of gaming right now and I don't have much time to spare for more gaming. :(

Well, I'm going to turn up in the morning... wanting to play something.

Please others come along, do some gaming and maybe chat about the whole thing?

Well, as is about the standard, I notice this the Monday afterwards.

I have plenty of games I'm in, but not nearly enough venues to run convention-style one shots. If there's another of these in the future and it's seeking GMs I'd love to bring a three-hour single-session game to it.

What's the crowd like? Hardcore dice rollers looking to crack skulls and loot rooms, or social gamers looking for something new and different?
Single session games by request:
Blue Charlie * Dust * Everyone Else * Watch This * The Penance Box * The Heist

There is room for all types of games, that's the point. Try something different.

There are various types of gamers, including people looking for something new and different with lots of dice and loot.
... but only for 3 hours.

In regards to encouraging attendance at ANURPS Games Days, would it help if there was a schedule of future Games Days, say to the end of 2010? That way, people could plan in advance whether they were up to run something. The more people planning to run something, the more chances of people turning up, even if some of those people had intended to run something.

For my part, I would like to run Remember Tomorrow, a collaborative cyberpunk game in the style of William Gibson et al, by Gregor Hutton of Best Friends and 3:16 fame. I probably can't run it at the next Games Day, as I will be away, but maybe the one after that?
Games I run: Werewolf: the Forsaken [Solar System], BSG: All Along The Watchtower [HQ2], Aberrant: Teen Tomorrow [WT]
Games I ran/played: Mouse Guard Limited Series [Mouse Guard],
Nephilim: Within the Great Mechanism [HQ2]
Settings I want to run one day: Old/New World of Darkness, Aeon Trinity, Adventure!, War Against the Chtorr, Star Wars... and more besides!

Remember Tomorrow,

I would be up for that given that the gametime of the first edition of cyberpunk is 2012.

And another thing the year that Sophie Aldred started playing "ace" was the year that Karen Gillian "Amy Pond" was born. Makes you think.
All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic, heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned.

This is simple and could be quite effective. I second this idea!

Hey, I've just finished the second season of Battlestar Galatica, thank you very much. And I just spend time on other pursuits, like washing lettuce and standing on my head.
